Arrived safely in Leon despite a complete madman who kept talking loudly to himself on the train and then relieved himself on the platform as we were getting off! Had a lovely evening in Leon, John and I were there last year on the Camino Frances such a beautiful city and I so glad there was time for Susie to look round the Cathedral. The significance of the bronze statue above as this is the official starting place of the Camino San Salvador in St Marcos Square.
Early start this morning, out of our beds at 5.45 and into the fabulous dawn, slightly chilly but Ok. First 8k were unattractive road walking, we stopped for coffee in a small town where the ever smiling proprietor served us the most unusual coffee as his machine was non-functioning, instant in slightly warm milk or water! Still, he gave us free keyrings so we forgave him.
Then it was off road and a real leg breaker but fabulous views.
Temperatures in the high twenties so not for pilgrims but loved by sunbathers! Very few fellow pilgrims unlike last year apart from a grumpy German who we will try to upset if we see him again!
Tomorrow is shorter but much more climbing (upto 1500 metres)
