20.6 Cruise

After a very underwhelming meal last night at a restaurant that was high on trendy and low on content, we rode early to catch our cruise along the Douro river. Basically beautiful but somewhat comical with a ridiculous commentary and terrible food. I started off expecting beautiful vineyards but these didn't materialise until the afternoon. John and Susie live in Blenheim in the South Island vineyards. John was assuring me that the vines we saw from the river were not large enough to support commercial wine making. It was only when we were on the way home that we saw the endless valleys of vines!

Port is such a staple of Porto and the production of port is still the raison d'et of the place. Despite the cruise ship limitations, it was a lovely day.
